Environmental Horticulture Club

 

Interested in plants or the horticulture industry? The Horticulture Club is open to everyone — no experience needed. As a member, you’ll help grow and sell more than 4,000 poinsettias each year, gaining hands-on experience in greenhouse operations, plant production, marketing, and sales from start to finish. You’ll also have opportunities to attend field trips, conferences, competitions, and hear from industry professionals, while getting involved in community service.

Plant Science Council

 

The Plant Science Council (PSC) is a student-led organization for anyone interested in plant science, breeding, research, and extension. Whether you’re an undergraduate exploring the field or a graduate student deep in research, PSC connects you with peers, faculty, and industry professionals across disciplines. Members help organize symposiums, seminars, and workshops, gain leadership experience, and participate in outreach that supports agriculture and the broader community.

Horticultural Sciences Student Club

 

The Horticultural Sciences Students Club is a non-profit organization that tries to create an environment for students in the Horticultural Sciences Department within the University of Florida to meet and interact with one another on a social and intellectual level. These goals shall be achieved through club meetings, social gatherings, fundraising, and seminars on topics related to the field of horticultural sciences.

Organic and Sustainable Agriculture Club

 

The Organic and Sustainable Agriculture Club (OSAC) is dedicated to spreading the knowledge and practices of organic and sustainable farming. This includes plant agriculture as well as animal agriculture. We intend to bridge the gap between farmer and consumer by educating the community on agricultural practices that will promote sustainability.

The Gator Citrus Club connects students with Florida’s citrus industry — and beyond. Through guest speakers, industry engagement, and travel opportunities, members learn about citrus production and research from a local and global perspective. The club recently visited the Polytechnic University of Valencia and agricultural operations in Spain, where students and faculty shared research and explored Spanish agriculture firsthand. Each year, the club hosts a citrus sale to help fund its international trip.

The Environmental Horticulture Graduate Student Association (EHGSA) represents and supports graduate students within the department. The organization creates an open forum for students to share ideas and concerns, stay informed about departmental and university changes, and maintain dialogue with faculty. EHGSA also promotes professional and academic development, connects students with research at IFAS satellite centers, and provides social events that strengthen the graduate student community.
