    Our Current Groups Served

    • UF Student Therapeutic Horticulture Program

The UF Student Therapeutic Horticulture program serves UF students struggling with stress, anxiety, loneliness and other mental and emotional hardships. We partner with the UF Counseling & Wellness Center (CWC) to teach students wellness strategies. Each week, students gain horticulture skills, build community, and grow an active connection to plants and nature.

Our programming is part of a larger research study on the effects of therapeutic horticulture programming on student well-being and academic resilience. This program is offered at no cost to students due to our partners, including Costa Farms, the Bonnie Foundation, and the UF Strategic Funding Initiative, as well as grant funding and individual donors.

    • Life Transition Skills

We provide therapeutic horticulture programming for Life Transition Skills, a program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through hands-on plant activities, participants build practical skills, confidence, independence, social connection, and a sense of accomplishment in a supportive environment.

    • New Creation Adult Day Training

Our newest addition to programming, New Creation Adult Day Training, is also a group of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The expansion of our program to include this group is possible due to a grant from the Burpee Foundation, whose generosity has allowed for the materials, staff, and development of specialized curriculum to serve both New Creation and Life Transition Skills.

    • UF Psychiatric Hospital/Vista Program
      UF Health Psychiatric Hospital

Our partnership with the UF Psychiatric Hospital supports us in providing weekly therapeutic horticulture activities for individuals receiving inpatient mental health care, from adolescents to adults. Through accessible, hands-on experiences with plants, participants can practice coping skills, reduce stress, support self-expression, and experience connection, choice, and accomplishment during stabilization.

    • UF THP Alumni

Our therapeutic horticulture alumni group welcomes former participants from any of our programs to stay connected and give back through a variety of hands-on projects and supportive tasks. Members help strengthen the program while continuing to build community, purpose, confidence, and a sense of belonging.

Through our partnership with the Florida Recovery Center, we provide therapeutic horticulture programming for individuals receiving treatment for substance use disorders. Hands-on plant activities offer opportunities to practice coping and wellness skills, reduce stress, learn new skills, and experience connection, purpose, and accomplishment throughout the recovery process.
